Reflecting, 2018.

Projection onto gallery walls.

Reflecting explores how symmetry can be used to exploit pareidolia. The black-and-white coloring and vertical orientation of the image detach it from its original context. The viewer may interpret the image in a number of ways without recognizing its subject.

Reflecting is a digital image projected onto the seam of two walls in a gallery, where the image fills the wall from top to bottom. When projected, each side of Reflecting takes one wall so that the gallery's corner acts as the vertical axis of symmetry.
